Alisson: Liverpool keeper to miss Super Cup with calf injury
9 AugFrom the sectionLiverpool
Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson kept 21 clean-sheets for Liverpool in his first Premier League campaign
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said goalkeeper Alisson's calf injury "cast a shadow" over the 4-1 win against Norwich in the Premier League season opener.
The Brazilian suffered the problem as he took a goal-kick towards the end of the first half, and will now miss next week's Super Cup match against Chelsea in Istanbul.
"It felt like something hit him and that's not a good sign," said Klopp.
Alisson was a key figure for the Reds in his debut season, helping them win the Champions League and take the Premier League runners-up spot.
The 26-year-old former Roma player was replaced by new signing Adrian, a free agent in the summer after he was released by West Ham.
The Spaniard made a great save from Moritz Leitner but conceded a goal in the 64th minute when Temmu Pukki fired in for Norwich.
Klopp added: "Adrian was completely relaxed and did what he had to do. He's a good keeper, calm on the ball and a good shot stopper. That's why we signed him."
Liverpool's third-choice keeper Caoimhin Kelleher is recovering from minor surgery on a broken wrist.

Alexandre Lacazette and Aubameyang in talks over new Arsenal deal but have NOT signed contracts yet
Aubameyang and Lacazette are both being talked to about signing new contacts at ArsenalCredit:
Aubameyang, 30, still has two-years left on his deal, which runs out in the summer of 2021.
And 28-year-old Lacazette has three-years remaining until 2022 after signing on for five seasons from Lyon in 2017.
The Gunners are desperate for them to stay, and would like them to be tied down before the end of this year.
However, the new and more ruthless hierarchy at the Emirates will not let the pair run down their deal
NEYMORE
Neymar axed from PSG squad to face Nimes as club confirm transfer talks are at an advanced stage amid Barcelona and Real Madrid interest.
NEYMAR has been left out of PSG’s squad to play Nimes with transfer discussions “more advanced than before”.
The Brazilian superstar has pushed for a move away from Paris all summer with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi willing to sell the 27-year-old for the right price.
Neymar is returning to fitness after an ankle injury that ruled him out of Brazil’s Copa America winning campaign last month.
But PSG Sporting Director Leonardo revealed the forward will not feature in the Ligue 1 champion’s opening game of the season.
He claims transfer discussions for Neymar’s move away from the French capital are “more advanced" than ever this summer.
It comes after heavy interest from Barcelona - who sold the Brazilian for a record £198million to PSG in 2017 - and their La Liga rivals Real Madrid.
Neymar is said to be desperate to return to the Nou Camp this summer, but Barca chiefs are struggling to find the cash to re-sign their former No11.
PSG were offered £90m plus a choice of two players, including Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
However, the French champions are not interested in a player plus cash deal - wanting a straight transfer fee instead.
It lead to Real stepping up interest in the Brazilian, despite Barca pleading with Neymar to end any transfer discussions with Bernabeu chiefs.
Cardoner said: "We are passive actors. We know he's not happy in Paris and it's a situation that needs to be resolved in Paris.
"We haven't spoken to them. There is a lot of respect between the clubs and if there is a Neymar case one day, we'll talk.
"Today, at this time, it's ruled out."
Paul Pogba could still make a dramatic return to JuventusCredit:
Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane was keen on signing his compatriot, but president Florentino Perez objected and he is now trying to push ahead with a deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar.
Juventus, meanwhile, were very eager to sign Pogba last weekand supposedly offered three players - Paulo Dybala, Mario Mandzukic and Blaise Matuidi to complete a deal.
Although the Premier League transfer window has shut, European clubs can still snap up players.
The Sunday Express claim Juve are hatching a transfer plan to tempt Pogba to head back to Turin.
However, SunSport revealed earlier this week that they will have to raise £180million as United won't accept less than that.
Despite his inconsistent displays at Old Trafford, the Serie A powerhouse know what they are getting with Pogba as he enjoyed four successful years there which was sandwiched in between his two spells at United.
While Pogba has been tipped to leave, Gary Neville thinks it would damage the Red Devils in the short term.
